Defensive Driving Training
Young Star Driving School (YSDS) has designed its defensive driving training to be offered in a classroom setting. Selected defensive driving techniques with a proven record of effectiveness are discussed. The curriculum is presented and experienced with the aid of various audio-visual devices and virtual reality systems. These courses are designed to encourage group discussions among students about the driving and driver’s issues they face every day.
Being trained as a defensive driver means one more safe driver on the streets. More safe drivers on the road mean fewer collisions, fewer injuries, less vehicle maintenance expenses, fewer work hours lost, cheaper vehicle insurance costs; to mention a few. For these reasons, we value defensive driving knowledge highly during our training session. Moreover, we have designed courses especially to educate the drivers who want to explore it in more depth.
Driving environment, inside and outside the vehicle can affect our driving capabilities. In our defensive driving courses, the challenges offered by road, traffic and weather conditions are outlined. Students are trained in using tools for inspecting vehicles for safety. They are taught techniques to have better and safe vehicle control and handling. They are trained on how to prevent collisions by effective use of mirrors, signs, signals, turning and backing procedures.
Understanding that human element of defensive driving is more important than the mechanical element, we introduce the students to the optimal mental and emotional state to be safe while driving and to keep others safe on the road. Students are made aware of the importance of physical fitness including adequate vision, hearing, and sleep.
At Young Star Driving School, students are introduced to the critical rules, by-laws, and regulations that apply to personal vehicle operation. They are also made aware of resources where they can learn about updated versions of such laws.
Our defensive driving courses instill life-long safe driving habits. They are ideal for experienced drivers as well as for novice driving students who want to improve their on-road knowledge and attitude by learning about effective defensive driving techniques.
