Teenage Driving Issues

Teen driving issues are real and addressable. At Young Star Driving School, we train teenage drivers not only to obtain a license but also to drive safely. Our experienced instructors are motivated to increase awareness among students about common pitfalls of youth driving. Majority of the youth start driving at a legal age when drinking is allowed too. We put our best to embed the horrible outcomes of drinking and driving into students minds. At the end of the in-class training they are already aware of the importance of driving sober.

Drinking and Driving

Drinking any alcohol greatly increases the risk of injury or fatality and is one of the key teen driving issues. In comparison to the experienced drivers, teen drivers are three times more likely to be involved in a fatal crash. According to a recent MADD study, teen drivers are seventeen times more likely to die in a crash when they have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% than when they are sober. According to statistics, close to a million high school teens drink alcohol and get behind the wheel every year. A survey of Ontario high school students aged 16 and older, revealed the shocking facts. They claimed that they had driven a vehicle, at least once, during the past month, when they had been drinking alcohol.

The percentage of high school teens who drink and drive has been reduced by half since 1991. However, there is a growing sense that it should be and can further be improved. Various academic and community studies have made recommendations.  Factors such as parental involvement, proper driving education, zero-tolerance laws can reduce the number of impaired teens behind the wheel. Such tested and proven steps can not only protect the lives of more young drivers but also of others who share the ride and road with them.
